Mtv Music Video Awards 2009, Prologue style

Prologue — remember them? I had already introduced this superb all-around studio (film intros, VFX, commercials, broadcast design, corporate, ... ) for the opening sequence of the Offf Festival 2009.

We find the same ingredients in the branding for the MTV Video Music Awards 2009:

  • Aesthetic shots (here of NYC and matte paintings), with real work on photography, composition, and color
  • A dynamic edit, with simple effects achievable in After Effects that give this special vibe: vignettes and film textures, chromatic aberrations, camera shake for the “handheld” feel, tracking and integration of beautiful typography
  • Even if the sequence below is a demo and doesn’t show each shot in full, we can guess that the sound design was also very present on air, strongly supporting the editing and reinforcing New York’s urban atmosphere.
  • An open-minded client. Yep… because sadly, not everyone can be sold this kind of concept ^^

In theory, if you handle all these ingredients with taste, you’ll also get a great dish :) And if you’d like more examples of great recipes made by the chefs at Prologue, check below:

Of course, it’s hard to grasp the richness of Prologue’s portfolio with just 4 videos, so let’s follow up with their 2009 demo reel:

You can find all the shots featured in the reel on the studio’s portfolio. Dozens of videos to enjoy — enough to feast your eyes for hours!
