After Effects In this new video tutorial on After Effects, we will learn new advanced expressions associated with shape layers.
We will then be able to create on the fly hundreds of random shapes automatically, on a single shape layer.
Each sub-element will have its own position, size, color and geometry, while remaining editable.

This tutorial is amazing! One question, though, is it possible to choose from a select number of specific colors instead of the semi-random version?

You probably figured this out by now but in case somebody wants to define their own colors for the shapes, try this:
color0 = [255,0,0,255]/255; // red
color1 = [0,255,0,255]/255; // green
color2 = [0,0,255,255]/255; // blue
color3 = [255,255,0,255]/255; // yellow
colors = [color0,color1,color2,color3];
seedRandom(index,true);
colors[Math.floor(random(colors.length))];
good!
Instead of the 'id' variable can't just 'index' do the same job?
You can try by yourself, but the index variable only refers to the Layer index, and this doesn't apply to the index of sub-properties like the ones used inside shape layers.

This is great and I just used it but for some reason VERY slow to render.
How would I change the shape to an irregular circle/oval? Trying to make these looks like cells, which a bit off from a perfect circle.
