Autodesk Showreel 2009 : Best Of The Best !

Ready for a good slap? Autodesk has just unveiled its new showreel for the year 2009, showcasing the best work done with their software over the past year. Among their clients are some of the largest animation and post-production studios in the world (The Mill, Mac Guff, MPC, A52, ...). It features most of the commercials that made headlines on specialized blogs throughout 2008, and it’s a pleasure to see them again:

• The software used in these spots includes: Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Combustion, Autodesk Flame, Autodesk Flint, Autodesk Lustre, Autodesk Maya, Autodesk MotionBuilder, Autodesk Mudbox, Autodesk Smoke, Autodesk Softimage, Autodesk Toxik

We can notice that Autodesk mainly highlights the VFX side, with photorealistic renders, while leaving aside the more "cartoon" animation world. With the acquisition of Softimage, studios working with XSI were also able to join the demo this year :)

One thing is for sure: with increasingly powerful machines, physical simulations (fluids, dynamics, etc.) are almost everywhere, and it’s always impressive!
