After Onesize, it’s now Prologue’s turn, as expected, to release the opening video introducing the artists and studios featured at the Offf festival. The result is simply stunning — I’ll let you admire the work:

The atmosphere is really captivating: from a photographic standpoint, the shots are well chosen, beautifully composed, and I love the color grading that was done. Not to mention the soundtrack by Hecq, metallic and vibrantly intense, which reinforces the strange feeling you get while watching the video.

A truly beautiful piece of work by Prologue. It feels like being on another planet, and despite the actors’ “armed” appearance, I feel a sense of freedom watching these scenes... Probably due to the vast, empty landscapes, enhanced with matte paintings to emphasize their surreal quality. (And besides, they included mountain bikes — I can only love it!)

This is exactly the kind of project that After Effects excels at: tracking, typography, color grading, color effects, and matte painting. If you have beautiful vacation footage lying around unused, now’s the time to pull it out and experiment with track points and the beam effect, to easily link lines to points in your footage. When you combine several simple elements, such as lines, triangles in different tones to simulate depth, and text, you can quickly achieve a highly graphic result:

If you enjoy this type of video treatment — with tracking, typography, and icons — I recommend checking out this post, which features 7 videos on the use of illustrative motion graphics in filmed scenes.
