In this new free video tutorial on After Effects, we'll focus once again on shape layers. We will see how to use them for a typographic composition rich in details, from simple manipulations.
Then we will see how to animate our typography, with a burst into hundreds of particles that doesn't require any plugin or effect! Only one shape layer.
We will also add a random motion to give an organic look to our text.
- Creating a typography composed of hundreds of circles, on a single shape layer
- Random animation on individual circles to give life
- Scattering and animation effects for an effect close to a particle simulator
- Graphic experiments using different tools specific to the shape layers
thumbs up

Any tips on making an old machine run a bit faster?
After effects is shitting bricks atm.
I have a triple core machine, with a 2 gig gfx card and 6 gig ram.
Somehow (don't know why) it hates shape layers..
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Great tutorial, we often forget the power of simple shape layers!
Is there a way to add Z axis transformations to create more depth?
Not at the moment, but I hope it will be a new function of a next After Effects version, it would be so cool :)
sogood man
Where do you get the sounds from your videos from?:)
Oh why should we complicate our lives with plugins when we can spend a night at work copying circles in all shots because client wanted different words. Thumbs down! :)
Hi friend!,
What were the settings for getting the paper texture to appear on each circle? Thank you! Wonderful work!

I thought I noticed that your shape layers had a wet, shiny look to them. Though maybe this isn't the case.
I did manage to figure out that I can add a second "shine" sphere and group them together before duplicating. But the problem is that the the "Wiggle Transform" won't move them together as one unit, instead the shape and it's shine will move around in different directions.
Any suggestions for getting this to work?
Sorry, but I can't watch video tutorial, anybody help me ?
Isn't working for me either. Using Chrome newest version of flashplayer installed.
